This is a native herb from Indonesia. The name comes from the Latin word clavus meaning nail, as this herb is in the shape of a nail. It’s dark brown to black in colour. And the size doesn’t exceed 2cm maximum.Cloves have a strong and sweet aroma. And they are used in many ways for both medicinal and culinary purposes. In food, cloves are used as whole to scent food, it’s also ground and used as a form of spice for the food. In Kashmir cloves are dried and mixed with other herbs and spices and used as a traditional tea, it’s also used as a tea in India and Somalia. 

 Cloves were and are still used as a natural breath sweetener, just chew a few cloves between meals and it will work wonders. Clove oil is also very known and used to relieve toothache, due to its antiseptic properties. They are also used as an incenses material in the Far East and are a base of many perfumes. There many other uses to cloves and there are cloves cigarettes known to Indonesia.
